Which languages do you speak and how did that impact your life?
Hi there! I was born in Fullerton, California. My parents just spoke English and it wasn’t until college that I acquired Spanish. It was a requirement for my degree to have 2 years’ worth of a second language so I picked Spanish. Here is my original creation in a Spanish song 🤘 🇲🇽 “Más que una cancion” from my album Vaquero.

“Sí. En el principio,” I thought since I was studying literature, I might one day teach at a community college here in southern California. Anyway, I thought it was a good future job move to study Spanish because there has been such a large Spanish-speaking population in my world here in Southern California and it really did pay off. I have finished a career of about almost 30 years as a k12 and community college teacher, and I did a lot of of parent-teacher conferences in Spanish and translated for countless people on campus when they needed it and it always sounds good in an interview too when you can answer in Spanish. 🙏🏾
