Songwriter Storyteller: The Laughing Box

This song in particular reminds me of the value of being tenacious about practicing. I’ve been waking up about 4 AM. The way I used to wake up when I taught college. I guess I never lost that early riser feeling like I was doing something productive. And I was doing something productive. I was waking up and I was playing a little guitar and getting a little coffee and going through my morning rituals of listening to morning affirmations, a playlist that I made on YouTube. At any rate, I began to just pick up the guitar and kind of hit that sort of B power chord if you play guitar, you know what I’m talking about and I just kept kind of hammering on, thinking about of all things Vasoline, which is a song I don’t really like, but I like the groove of it so much, by the Stone Temple Pilots. Well to make a long story short just without requiring myself to make a hit song immediately I just woke up heard it jammed with a little bit each morning. I kinda got lost in it and then one day boom it was time to make a video cause I had a rock song, no lyrics written down but Zi had developed and evolved a groove which is the best way to start a new song tradition.
